One hardly believes it, but the inn Hirtzinger is its 22 generations in the family property. It was never sold, but always inherited – since 1447, when the Hitziger first appeared in the official records as the “Wirth von Selhueben”. Today the house is managed with passion by Lena Hitziger. She has expanded and still relies on her own butcher’s shop with sausages and meat specialities. Today there are even TV folk music recordings in the inn, there is a small hotel and a glass new building. It is always full of locals, tourists and employees of Marc O´Polo, who reside with their headquarters in nearby Staphanskirchen. That’s why you should definitely make a reservation and insist on a place in the old Gasttube, simply because it’s so much nicer. In summer, the particularly beautiful beer garden is well worth a visit. Try the wool sausages with gravy – a classic. The pearl fish from Chiemsee and Kaiserschmarren, which is perfectly prepared and not too sweet with apple and plum puree, are also good. You should also drink a hot Weissbier, which is prepared with more help than usual, ferments in the bottle and is naturally cloudy. The hotter one says, “it makes you more beautiful” – the more bitter taste reminds of banana.
